What can be repaired

Star breaks, bullseyes, and combination chips up to roughly the size of a quarter are usually repairable if they haven’t contaminated with dirt and water. The repair injects resin under pressure into the break, then cures it with UV light — the damage stops spreading and becomes far less visible.

Act before the weather does

A fresh chip is the best candidate for repair. Moisture and grime work into the break over days, and temperature changes flex the glass until the chip legs out into a crack. A repair is a far smaller job than a replacement — ask when you call.

Insurance

Chip repair is the case insurers most often cover in full, because it saves them the cost of a replacement claim. It’s worth a phone call before assuming you’ll pay out of pocket.

How it works

Three steps, no shop visit

1

Tell us what broke

Send the form or call. Your VIN or plate gets us the exact glass for your vehicle, including whether it carries a camera, rain sensor or heating element.

2

We check your coverage first

Before anything is scheduled we confirm what your policy covers — or give you a straight cash price — so the price you hear is the price you pay. No claim is filed until you say go.

3

We come to you

Your driveway, your office lot, your job site — wherever the vehicle is. We fit the glass, recalibrate the camera if there is one, and tell you when it's safe to drive.

Insurance

Going through insurance

Glass coverage sits in the comprehensive part of your policy — and we do the paperwork.

Glass claims in Maryland

Glass damage is covered under the comprehensive part of your policy, and your comprehensive deductible applies to a replacement.

Most carriers waive the deductible entirely for a chip repair, because a repair costs them a fraction of a replacement. If the damage is still repairable, that is usually the cheapest outcome for everyone.

Call us with your policy number and we will check your coverage with you before you commit to anything — and give your carrier everything they need: the exact glass, the part numbers and a written quote.

Paying cash

Not going through insurance? You get a straight price up front, before any work starts — no surprises when the job is done.

Most carriers waive the deductible on a chip repair even where a replacement would carry one — a repair costs them a fraction of new glass.

Damage smaller than a dollar bill, out of the driver’s line of sight and away from the edge, can usually still be repaired — which is quicker, cheaper, and keeps the original factory seal. Once it spreads, it is a replacement, so it is worth calling early.

General information only, not advice about your policy — coverage depends on the policy you hold, so check with your carrier. We are an independent glass shop and are not affiliated with or endorsed by any insurance company. Your choice of repair shop is yours to make.

Ray was amazing! Was driving on the highway when a rock hit my Tesla Model Y windshield. I wanted it repaired, but Ray was really honest and said the way the chip was, it would definitely spread. The windshield needed to be replaced. When I kind of insisted on the fill for a temporary fix, he was honest and told me it would be a waste of more than $100 if I did that. I ended up not getting anything done that day. He was really kind. Low and behold, it cracked with the hot weather the next day. I would have been out more than $100 for no reason if he had not been honest. That's integrity. I will always go to him when needed.

Ray provided excellent communication on the process of replacing the windshield of my 2024 Ford Ranger from start to finish. He provided me with the most cost effective price to start, but was also flexible enough to special order an OEM Ford windshield on my request. He was very kind, patient, and very personable. He arrived in the promised time frame and completed the windshield replacement perfectly and in a timely manner. I would highly recommend to everyone.

Ray did an amazing job repairing a crack on my windshield. I called in the morning and he was able to come to my workplace in the afternoon. He was really professional and explained to me exactly what he was going to do, and got it done in less than 30 minutes. I was already stressed about getting a flat tire a week ago and was not ready to deal with a damaged windshield, but this whole experience made me feel relieved.

Questions

Frequently asked

Will filing a glass claim raise my rates?

Glass damage is handled under the comprehensive part of your policy, not collision or liability, and comprehensive claims are generally treated differently from an at-fault accident. Every carrier and policy is different, though, so your carrier is the one who can confirm it for yours. Either way, nothing is filed until you tell us to.

Should I use insurance or just pay cash?

It comes down to two numbers: your comprehensive deductible and the price of the glass. If your deductible is $250 and the replacement is $550, claiming saves you $300. If your deductible is $500 and the glass is $420, paying directly is cheaper — and there is no claim on your record. We will price it both ways before you decide.

Can my windshield be repaired instead of replaced?

Often, yes. Damage smaller than a dollar bill, outside the driver’s line of sight and away from the edge of the glass can usually be repaired rather than replaced. A repair is quicker, costs less, and keeps the original factory seal. Send a photo with your quote and we will tell you straight — including when it is the smaller job.

Does my car need a camera recalibration?

If there is a camera mounted behind your windshield — lane keeping, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise — the manufacturer generally requires recalibration after the glass is replaced, so the system aims where it is supposed to. Your VIN tells us whether yours has one, and if it does we include it in the quote up front rather than after the job.
